Extracurricular

Enrichment Opportunities Beyond the Classroom

Extracurricular activities are an essential component of Ridge View’s Academic Model™ program. Studies have found that participation in certain extracurricular pursuits significantly reduces a student’s risk of dropping out. Ridge View students have the opportunity to participate in CHSSA-sanctioned sports, intramurals and over twenty campus clubs. These activities help students develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills that can be applied to other areas of their lives.

Opportunities

Ridge View students play on 12-CHSSA sanctioned teams which compete against other area high schools. Intramurals offer every student the opportunity to play a team sport of their choice and to develop coordination, communication and leadership skills. Talent Shows and coordinated exercise competitions showcase student’s special skills and talents, while campus clubs (chess club and art club) develop our student’s intellect and creativity.

Expanding Horizons

Ridge View students have unique experiences that are integral components of our program. Our students have attended Broncos and Avalanche games, have run the stairs at Red Rock Amphitheater and the grueling mile at Manitou Springs. Student-cyclists have ridden the Ride the Rockies bike tour, and have competed in Nordic Ski Races at world-renown Aspen and Vail. When students summit another 14’er with the support of their peers and staff, their horizons widen, enabling them to envision a brighter vision of success.

Leadership and Excellence

Students practice leadership skills through the Student Council, called the “RAMS Club” which models excellent behavior, academic proficiency and athletic accomplishment. Ridge View is one of the few academies in the United States to offer a Junior ROTC—a club which has presented colors at an Avalanche game. Ridge View’s Robotics Club has attended National and International competitions, and has been awarded in both. Ridge View students are encouraged to pursue excellence in and out of the classroom.
