The Mission of the Ridge View Academy Board of Directors is to ensure that Ridge View Academy and the Betty Marler Center provide a rigorous individualized educational delivery system which encompasses a learning paradigm for academic success, personal accountability, and essential skills that will enable our students to be contributing members of society.
RVA & BMC School Board
Patricia Hayes has served on the Cherry Creek School Board, the state Board of Education, and the University of Colorado Board of Regents. At present, sheis serving on the Charter school Institute board, the Interstate Migrant Education Board and the Presidents Leadership council at the University of Colorado.
Carol Nollsch is a retired special education teacher from Denver Public Schools and has served on the RVA School Board of Directors since 2006. Presently, she is working part time as a special educator for the STRIVE Preparatory Charter High School, SMART Academy. She is the school board representative on the Roger Allott Memorial Transition Committee which meets monthly to award grants to RVA/BMC post parole young adults who find themselves in need of support. “I’ve long had a passion for watching youth grow, learn, and move toward their goals in spite of any challenges they may have faced along the way.”
Judy Sutherland – MS, Management & Organizational Behavior; Retired CEO, Visiting Nurse Association of Colorado; Chair, National Association of VNA’s. Worked in non-profit sector for over 35 years
Craig Bowman – I am a Colorado native and a retired teacher. I earned my bachelor’s degree in English from Metro State (1970) and my master’s from the University of Denver (1978). I taught in Denver-area schools between 1974 and 2006, mostly in middle schools, teaching English. During that time, I also wrote free-lance columns for the Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Post, as well as some national publications. Currently, I am the Secretary of the Ridge View Academy Board of Directors.
Pat Grippe – Having served students and families as a teacher, high school principal and assistant superintendent of schools for over 40 years, he has a strong commitment to the growth and development of students and their development within the family structure. As a part of his commitment to students and families, he has had considerable experience in school choice programming, educational leadership, school renewal and organizational development processes. These experiences and expertise match the needs of RVA and the School Board. He is pleased to use his skills and experiences to support RVA.
Nancy Spence completed two terms in the Colorado state senate after 6 years in the Colorado house. She was ranking member of the Senate Education Committee and chaired the House Education Committee. Spence spent 13 years on the Cherry Creek Schools Board of Education and currently supports the community by service on boards of the Colorado Children’s Campaign, the Colorado League of Charter Schools, and is a CASA volunteer.
Charles Meyer – B.A. in Education, Biology-major, English-minor. M.A. in Secondary School Administration in 1971. Taught Biology and Zooolgy for 11 years at Littleton High school. Served as assistant principal at Littleton and Heritage High Schools for 21 years. Retired l993. Served on the School Board for over 7 years.
Robert Eikermann – BSBA in Accounting and a BSBA in Economics, Colorado State University. US Army, 2 years. Former Board member and President on the Arriba-Flagler School Board. Current Board member 6 years and President in 2011 -2012, RVA Community Advisory Board. Member of the Finance Committee, RVA School Board. I own and operate ATM of Colorado and am an active partner in Bell ATM Associates, LLC.

Elton Jones – Mr. Jones has served as Admissions Manager of the Mountain Region for over 15 years, admitting over 4000 students in Nevada and Colorado. He serves on the RVA School Board, Community Advisory Board, and Roger Allott Fund Transition Committee. He has participated in several fundraising activities such as the annual Golf Tournament and Recognition Dinners. Based on his varied and extensive experience with adjudicated juveniles, he is a valuable contributor to the Boards at Ridge View Academy.
